Radiohead ramble shrine

Overview: Radiohead is a band that was formed in Abingdon Oxfordshire, 1985. At the time the band went under the name "On a Friday" because Fridays were the days they all rehearsed on. The band consists of 5 members (listed below) and has been going on for about 37 years now. They have been world renowned for many of their projects such as their 2007 album In Rainbows and their 1997 album OK Computer. Many people say they have changed the rock genre as a whole and have helped create new muscial movements.

Fun & not-so-fun facts about Radiohead

  • The Bends isnt written about Creep since it was written before the song and the release of Pablo Honey. (1992)


  • On a trip to Mexico in 1994 Radiohead nearly died three times. On the plane to Mexico there was a malfunction which nearly crashed the plane, while in a grocery store a man with a giant machete came in and stole their belongings, and on the way to a gig the brakes on their car stopped working causing them to nearly crash AGAIN.


  • The song "How to Disappear Completely" is paritially about the stressfulness of going on tour and their Glastonbury 1997 show


  • The vocals for Fake Plastic Trees was inspired by Thom seeing Jeff Buckley live


  • The band got their name from a Talking Heaads song off of the True Stories album


  • Pablo Honey was named after a prank call by the The Jerky Boys


  • On an EP cover during the OKC era there were numbers on the Airbag/How am I Drving? EP that read 1426148550 which was an actual number that couldbe dialed and callers could also leave voice messages for the band


  • The noises at the start of the title track on The Bends was a taped recording of a child parade/marching band Thom took from his balcony one day
